The Melrose-Mindoro 4K program is offered 5 full days per week and is dedicated to fostering the development of the whole child. Our curriculum emphasizes social-emotional, physical, language, literacy, and math growth through engaging, hands-on activities.
To create a dynamic learning experience, we incorporate monthly or bi-monthly themes that integrate various areas of development. The daily schedule includes a blend of small and large group experiences, teacher and child directed activities, as well as opportunities for movement, music, science, math, literacy, art, free play, and outdoor play.
Additionally, 4K students participate in one special class each day, including Guidance, Art, Music, Physical Education, or Library. Key skills such as decision-making and conflict resolution are taught using "Green and Red Choices" and "Solution Cards," empowering students to navigate social situations effectively.
To track progress, math and literacy assessments are conducted in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. Families receive report cards twice per year. We also prioritize family involvement by offering parent/teacher conferences, school-wide events, and family outreach activities throughout the year
